LOVES: Expensive clothing, evenings, men, women, sex, money, apples, shiny objects, jewelry, victory, candlelight, high heels, fur.
LOATHES: Inferiority, most sweets, public exposure, squibs, indecision, irritating noises, crowds.
STRENGTHS: Clever, powerful, emotionally detached.
WEAKNESSES: Restless, impatient, cruel.
PERSONALITY: Verity has never been soft-spoken, nor has she known when she should hold her tongue. There is nothing she loves more than being right, and she finds she usually accomplishes this by speaking, thus she is prone to very loudly and impolitely declaring her own opinion whether or not it is desired, unbelievably and irreversibly stubborn in a nearly obnoxious way. She is not a pushover and does require an immense amount of significance to budge on her opinions, and even if she is swayed to changer her opinion she will find some way to make it seem like that was what she meant the entire time. However, when she isn’t driven out of logical reasoning by her own incessant pride, she is quite clever. She has always been able to think at an alarming speed, and she can be relied upon as someone who can think and act quickly. However, she does not stop to consider things, so once she has decided upon something, an opinion, a plan, and impression, it sticks and she goes with it, trusting her own gut and decisions more than anyone else, impulse her main benefactor. Her parents do consider her the most likely to survive the tough years ahead with the most success, because she can react to any situation. However, she is not someone who can plan ahead or think with the most sensibility.
Quite in contrast to her overwhelmingly dramatic air, love was never something that Verity was passionate about. She only dated on a few occasions, and only because the match itself provided her with something she desired. Verity will not continue to include herself in any arrangement that does not eventually benefit her a satisfactory amount. Brash and selfish, most people can find her difficult to be around, which is why her relationships are mostly sexual in nature (add that to the short list of her becoming qualities, sensational sexual partner). However, being Verity’s friend does have its benefits, if you’re able to achieve that status. Though she is not known for having integrity or being loyal simply because she’s supposed to, if Verity likes you she will stand by you, and she, as an enemy, should be feared. She packs a powerful punch with a wand, unafraid to use it and attack with surprising and striking force for a witch of her age. She has impenetrable confidence and her lack of any hesitation makes her words and her might astoundingly strong. She is a capable witch, who, if you prove yourself, will stand by you if you require it. Granted, she’ll be looking for some sort of perk or benefit along the way.
Despite having an extremely explosive head on her shoulders, one that is impossible to predict or tame, Verity is able to the appearance of being very well put together. She is an experience actress- being exposed in Wizarding society from a young age has its benefits. Her family is tied deep to pureblood supremacists, and she comes from one of the oldest, most revered, and equally most feared names in the Wizarding World- Montague. Putting on a smile, or any face that’s required of her, is second nature. She is a devilish girl with a penchant for persuasion, more specifically manipulation. It is assumed, among her family members at least, that she will become a prized possession for the Dark Lord, soon to join him as one of his few, but highly regarded and respected, Death Eaters.

HISTORY: Most of Verity Montague’s life could be considered much like a fairytale. However, it is only when one digs deep down into what makes her who she is, her true history, that one starts to see how twisted and dysfunctional a fairytale it really is…
Most pureblood marriages are arranged. Well, the pureblood marriages that are considered legitimate and proper are arranged. If you came from a rich, supremacist family who wanted to stay in favor with the rest of your society, you put your children into an arranged marriage from a young age. First of all, it tied you to the other families forever, by so doing making you stronger and better connected than before. Second of all, it was just the way things worked. Dexter Montague never properly proposed to Lorena Lennox, but he did give her a kiss on the cheek when he first met her and they both signed the document ensuring their engagement.
They were some of the luckier ones, for at least they were able to tolerate one another. They made an excellent team, as they both cared about public appearances more than the state of their own marriage. They put on a show for everyone, even their house elves, so much so that even they started to believe that they were legitimately in love. It was definitely to their advantage. Dexter was charismatic and charming, with just enough devilish exuberance to gain the respect of other members of their circle; Lorena was nothing but absolutely stunning. She was silent beside her husband, merely a mark of his success, but this arrangement was only beneficial. As long as she was draped in fur, she didn’t care what was required of her.
One requirement was the birth of an heir. That was accomplished on the couple’s first attempt. A Montague son was the best, and most dangerous thing, the Montague’s could produce. The fate of their fortune was protected and sealed under the Montague name now, and it seemed that this family, rising in popularity in the eyes of the Dark Lord, and also wizarding society itself, was untouchable. Dexter was an executive with his own banking company. Gringotts was an oasis; he controlled Europe. His banks handled money from most important pureblood families all across the continent, including his own, and this career funded his own accounts immensely. He was notably absent from his son’s life in his first year, but home enough to have another child only a year later, a daughter, the best thing that had happened to them since the birth of their son.
Daughters were excellent playing chips in the game of life as well. Not only had the Montagues managed to secure their wealth and prestige in a son, but they had a beautiful little girl with which to barter for a connection in pureblood society. Verity Margaret Montague was not what they expected, however. Their son took after his father, charming, charismatic, and collected. Verity took after neither of her parents. She was, in short, a brimming handful. As a youth, she was always raging, whether with excitement or distaste. She would keep the nurses up all night with her yelling if it pleased her to do so. Not until she grew into her childhood did she realized that constant attention wasn’t necessarily what she needed to get what she wanted.
Spoiled would be an understatement. Despite their absence from her daily affairs, she was showered with affection from both her parents whenever she spent time with them. As a child, before she went to Hogwarts, there was barely anything, action or appearance, that was required of her. Being a female was precisely all her parents needed from her at the time. Passionate in all her actions and brilliantly persuasive as well as sly, her father only saw wonderful things for his daughter. Because of her promise, through her cunning and her sheer force of being, he held off on pawning her to another pureblooded family. He wanted to make sure his investment was worth it. Despite Verity being all encapsulating as a child, he could only imagine the potential for her young adulthood.
She followed her brother into Slytherin, as expected. Anyone who was on the train with her to school could have imagined she’d be a Slytherin. At first approach, even at the age of eleven, there was just something about her that was not to be trusted, despite her captivating smile and wide eyes. She could win people over as she wished, however, and she grew up in this manner, constantly surrounded by worthy Slytherins who she’d known while growing up, those who understood the life that came with being a powerful, pureblooded wizard. Verity had little apprehension declaring her sentiments to anyone that asked, even provoking many a student when she was simply bored.
At sixteen, she has proven herself to be a powerful witch, one with a short fuse that could snap at any sort of provoking. She has become infuriatingly opinionated, and most people know that about her, but to most at the school, she remains elusive, the rich witch with a signature gait who doesn’t stop for anyone in her path. She could charm the pants off anyone she wants (she thinks so at least, and she has, to many a wizard, and even some witches). If she continues with her repertoire of conniving stunts and spontaneous hexes, she’ll be among the Death Eaters in no time. Her difficulty with authority could prove to be rather difficult however. She doesn’t realize just how dangerous a spot she’s in.
