Juliet looked in the mirror to make sure that everything is in place. She doesn't look too elegant, so at least she won't be getting a lot of attention tonight. She never liked being in the center of attention. Juliet knows that there are other girls who probably picked out a better dress, than she did. The dress that she chose was actually from her closet. She wore it to attend one of her friend's semi-formal birthday party. The girl smiled as she saw that everything was where it should be. The Ravenclaw started walking out of the tower. She made her way down the stairs and saw that she was early. There were already a few people scattered throughout the ballroom.
Juliet walked in and decided to sit by a window. She always liked looking outside so that she can think. The night was really beautiful, she felt an urge to walk outside to enjoy some fresh air and look up at the dark starry sky. The girl let out a sigh and tried to see the stars from inside the ballroom. She wants to see the whole night sky, but she is definitely not dressed for the cold crisp autumn air. Maybe she should have brought down a jacket with her. Why didn't she think of that when she was still inside the tower? She was probably staring right at it before she left. Now Juliet actually feels kind of stupid for not bringing her warm jacket down. But then again, she didn't see a coat check on her way down so maybe it's a good thing that she forgot her jacket.
The Ravenclaw looked around the ballroom and saw people trickling in. The room started to fill up with students dressed up in beautiful dresses. Juliet looked down at her solid pink dress and she felt a bit under dressed for this event now. Everyone looked amazing, but her. Juliet never really liked to look over the top, but maybe it would be nice to be wearing a beautiful dress. Maybe she should have bought a dress for this. Her parents were thinking about sending one of her more formal dresses, but she didn't want them to go through the trouble of sending her a package. She's not even sure how many owls it will take for her package to arrive. Juliet looked down at the floor. She was off in her own world, until she saw a pair of black shiny shoes taking up the space in front of her. Juliet looked up and saw a spiffy Regulus towering over her.

creds to caution Regulus wasn't fond of dances. In fact, he was questioning why he was even attending such a monstrous occasion. He didn't have date, didn't want one, and he would undoubtedly run into his brother at some point during the night. Yet, there he was, standing in front of a mirror, wearing a dress robe and feeling the urge to shoot himself then and there. He would have to dance. It was required at these sort of things, wasn't it? Cursing gently he took a fleeting glance back to his room and headed out of the dorm. The common room was quiet and he understood why. Slytherins usually gathered towards these things mainly because someone would crash it with booz or the like. Reg could actually use a drink, not that he'd go and get one. He figured making an appearance was better than anything, not that he had the friends to go with. Sighing lightly, he made his way towards the great hall, just kind of avoiding the eye-contact of the groups that were also heading this way.
The hall was becoming crowded by the time Regulus arrived. It wasn't too much of a party, not yet- anyway. His eyes scanned the room but he took refuge against a wall, crossing his arms, imploring nobody to come and talk to him. Regulus wasn't here tonight to get a girlfriend, not that single people really showed their faces around these things. They'd probably be hiding in their room, crying their eyes out for being unloved- or something like it. A pink dress against a window caught Reg's eye and he pursed his lips. Juliet Moore. a blast from the past, it seemed. Another reason why he shouldn't have came. Perfect. He noticed her watching people and sighed. Juliet was a friend, she was before she betrayed his trust. She was a muggleborn, and she waited years before she told him. Now they were strangers, and only an ounce of guilt shuddered through Reg's body. They were good friends once, why was she standing alone? Pushing himself off the wall he moved over and stood near the girl. "Juliet." He spoke politely, actually initiating some sort of conversation. He needed to be careful, his compassion was showing. "You look nice." The comment couldn't have come out more nonchalantly, but Regulus meant it. Perhaps he was making a mistake here, too late now.

Feeling a bit shorter than usual, Juliet decided to stand up. Even with two inch heels on she's still pretty short. She never really noticed how tall Regulus had gotten since the last time they talked. She remembered the two of them being the same height, and then after one summer he shot up. The girl remembered how happy he was when he saw that he was finally taller than her. Juliet really thought that Regulus was different from what the Slytherins believed, but she was wrong. When Juliet told him, their friendship ended right then and there. The girl put on her best smile and said, "Thanks, you look nice, too." She felt nervous talking to him. It's just been so long since Reg had walked up to her casually and talk to her. And she never thought that it would be at such a public place.
"Are you waiting on your date?" Juliet asked. Reg is quite an attractive person, Juliet can't deny that fact. He really did look handsome in his dress robes. He has to have a date. All of Juliet's friends have dates, while no one asked her. A lot of her friends reassured her that someone would, but no one came up to her. It did sort of put a dent in her self esteem, but she knows that she needs some maturing to do, and maybe so does her future husband, who knows. The girl looked around the Great Hall and saw her friends with their dates, and saw some of them dancing together. Sometimes Juliet did wish that she will find someone soon, but maybe right now isn't the best time for her.
An awkward silence filled the air around the two used to be friends. Juliet started to fidget in place. She wasn't really sure why Reg even approached her. She doesn't want to create a scene at such a wonderful event. Everyone is having a good time, while she's standing next to someone that she didn't expect to come to such a thing. Juliet really wishes that things could go back to the way they were between her and Reg. They were able to talk about anything now, they're just at a lost for words. She knows that she is, but she's not sure about Reg. Juliet does miss the Reg she knew before she told him that she was a muggle born. She doesn't even know why she did that. But then again, people will find out sooner or later.

creds to caution He saw her practically squirming in his presence and couldn't help but let a frown fall. Regulus realized how long ago it was that they were friends. And he had some mixed feelings about it. She was someone he was actually close to, mind you- she didn't know it all, but she knew more than anyone of his kind did. But he'd changed, so had she. She lied to him, for years... of course it was because he was one of them. But it was unacceptable for someone to do that. Especially if they want to call themselves a friend. That's what really tore him away. But then again, he didn't make it easy for her, either. Going on about muggleborns the way that he was always told to, and she was always one of them. It took guts, he gave her that. And he tossed her aside. His ignorance, after all, was the only thing that actually kept him safe from his parent's wrath. He wouldn't talk about her, but he very rarely spoke about anyone in certain standards. But she had lied, and history was written.
Regulus couldn't deny that he found himself aching her support, especially on the spiral he was on. But even now, he didn't want to pull her down- she was a muggleborn, he was a death eater, or soon to be. There was no room for friendship in the situation they were in. But he recognized nostalgia as the reason he meandered over. But now, watching her, he realized the mistake he'd made. Her question caught him off guard and blinked, taking a second to absorb her curiosity. "No." He said, as awkwardly as he always seemed to be at the topic of girls. And it came out a bit harsher than he meant it too, so he spoke again. "I'm not much of a dater." Regulus muttered, finding himself wanting to let his guard down for her, but fighting it. "And you?" His tone was forcibly bored. Reg didn't want to give her any indication that he was genuinely interested in her well being at the point and time. But he tried a small smile. He'd forgiven her years ago, and he wondered if she would ever forgive him. Not that he'd ask for it-heavens no! There were too many issues. No way. He couldn't do that again. His parents would kill him, he would be an outcast to the family like Sirius. His name stricken from the family tree. The silence that consumed them made Regulus realize that he needed to escape quickly. He was at risk of asking her to dance.
"I hope you have a good time."

The Ravenclaw was trying to stop fidgeting, but she couldn't help it. She fidgets whenever she's nervous. Juliet is glad that she goes to Hogwarts, she never has to stand in front of anyone and give a presentation. She would be fidgeting so much and she would probably stumble over her words. She took a deep breath and tried to calm down her nerves. It's not like she's developing feelings for Regulus, it's just that they haven't talked in so long, this moment right now is quite surreal to her. When Reg answered her question, she wasn't too surprised that he didn't have a date. She knew he was a quiet person, and he isn't the type to put himself out there. But then he added that he wasn't much of a dater. Juliet looked up at Reg when he asked her if she had a date. "Nope." Juliet replied with a small smile.
She's trying her best to have a casual conversation with Reg, but it doesn't really seem to be working. Maybe, as the conversation goes on, it'll become easier? The girl doubted that, but maybe it could be possible. She's been waiting for Reg to feel ready to be her friend again, and it doesn't really seem like he is yet. Juliet still feels the pain of him shutting her out after two years of being friends. Juliet tried forgiving him for what he did, and she has to remind herself a million times to forgive him whenever she sees him. Reg was raised by a pure-blood family and most of them have the same views as his family. It's not entirely his fault that he wants to be favored by his parents.
Juliet gave him a small smile as Reg said that he hopes that she'll have a good time. "Wait," Juliet said before she could stop herself. "How have you been?" The girl asked. At least she found something to continue their conversation.
