"I might be blind Alice, but even I can see Frank is serious about this." Jack said conversationally as he walked alongside Alice, "Gum?" and he tossed a piece into the air, knowing she'd catch it. "Think about it, sure he's asked you to the village every time there's a trip, but how many times has it been an official date?" He held up three fingers, popping some chocolate into his mouth with the other hand. "At least three. That I know of. Have you been holding out on your most adorable best friend ever?" he teased, "I hope not! I didn't leave out a single detail of the annoyingly overly helpful date in my sixth year ball did I? No wait. I left out the color of her dress." He added with a laugh.
He stopped to fish around in his bag of various candy for something better. Holding it up to his nose he gave it sniff and then proceeded to unwrap the treat. A cauldron cake. He walked again, chewing as he went. "You and Frank are in a relationship that's moving so slowly, even cats are getting bored watching you waiting for you to make a move." he told her and then, selected a spot by the lake and flopped onto a nice spot on the grass and leaned against a tree.
"I'm not an expert on relationships, but I do know that Frank is serious about you." He said with a smile, "You know how I know this? Of course you don't." Jack laughed, reaching into his candy bag and eating some at random. He spat a piece out into the lake with a plop. "Yuck. Grass jelly bean." but he dug into the box anyway once more. "Luckily, I'm here to tell you. Maybe I'll even tell you what I know about Frank's feelings." he smiled as he ate the jelly beans, spitting some out into the lake every now and then.
"First, I always overhear girls trying to get Frank's attention, they're willing to do anything! It's....kind of scary to be honest....but they never get it from him. Ever. That could only mean two things. One! That Frank's secretly blind AND deaf which means I MUST know his secret or ....that he's only paying attention to one girl in particular. Second, I often overhear his conversations in the library and in the corridors. Not that I'm eavesdropping, it's just difficult to whisper low enough to escape my ears. Anyway, guess who he's talking about nine times out of ten? The same girl he can't keep his eyes off of. Third I've heard tell that he's been distracted lately and that he's got a picture of the very girl we've been talking about all this time. I can narrow it down into simple words. Affection Lovely Inattentiveness Calm Effort! What do the first letters of each word spell?"
He turned his face toward Alice and grinned widely, "Alice. You are the girl he can't stop thinking about. You're the girl he ignores all the other chicks throwing themselves at him for. You're the girl he's always talking about. You're the girl of his affections, you're the girl he calls 'lovely'. You're the girl he's inattentive over EVERYTHING over. You're the girl he cannot remain calm over and YOU are the girl he puts so much effort into being with! A.L.I.C.E ALICE IN FRANKDERLAND!"
"Oh hi Frank." He said and then, at Alice's reaction he laughed and waved a hand up and down in front his own face.
"My point is Alice, is that Frank obviously cares about you. A lot. What are you gonna do about it?" He asked, as if asking Alice what she was going to do about a hole in her sock.
