how did cordelia jane warrington get herself into situations like these? those kind of situations that made her regret everything. apparently she could say no to a bad guy, but seriously? she could have easily just not even replied to ryker's note, but no she had to go and be snarky. normally she was a shy little hufflepuff girl who didn't look away from her feet. but around her brother and at home, things were different. so when she got a letter with a tone much like her brothers she could resist just being a snarky back. and how could she say no to a date? and it wasn't like ryker would have accepted no for an answer. to justify her actions, cordelia just concluded that it would be worst to say no than to say yes.
but really, was going on a date with ryker parkinson going to be that bad? he was rather handsome, so even if his personality was flaky it wasn't like she wasted the whole day watching paint dry. plus, he's the one who asked her. that meant he had to be some kind of interested. so hopefully, this whole thing wouldn't be to much of a flop. to bad for cordelia she had no idea what to do. it took the poor girl forever and a half to pick out the right outfit, and even as she made her way down the pathway to hogsmeade she was fiddling with her clothes trying to make sure they looked the best.
surprisingly, cordelia didn't have to all around hogsmeade searching for the older slytherin because it just so happened that he was making his way there as well. cordelia picked up her step so she could catch up with ryker. "oh hey, i didn't expect to see you here." cora joked, bumping into his shoulder in a playful manner. "i mean, its not that often that seventh year slytherins come out into sunlight. i'm surprised you aren't burning or something." and with that all her confident blew away with the wind. "i-i-i mean..." she stuttered, looking down at her feet. "i really didn't mean anything." cora finished in a muffle and embarrassed voice.

Y O U B E A U T I F U L S I N N E R I L O V E Y O U R W I C K E D H E A R T The cigarette hung from the corner of his mouth, barely held in place by the moisture on his lips, as he searched his body for a light. Patting down the back pockets of his jeans to find them empty, he moved his arms up and shoved his hands into the pockets on his leather jacket, checking and then doubling checking that it wasn't there. His fingers brushed nothing but his wallet and fabric and he grunted, annoyed. "Shit." he'd really wanted a smoke too. Pulling the unlit cigarette from his lips, he tucked it behind his left ear, deciding to ask someone for a light once he reached Hogsmeade. Hell, maybe his date would have a light.A grimace twisted at his lips as the word date crossed his mind. He didn't do dates, not officially. Dates were romance and flowers and finding out whether you were compatible enough to be a couple and all that other shit. And since he didn't do relationships, he didn't do dates. He'd asked the hufflepuff out, yes, but it wasn't a date. Not for him. For him it was just hanging out. Hanging out with the hopes that he'd get something out of it.
But since he'd asked out a hufflepuff, and an innocent one at that, he didn't expect to get much. Hell, he figured he'd be lucky if he managed a snog, but that was the whole reason he'd asked her out in the first place. Because he knew getting anything out of her was going to be hard and he'd always liked a challenge. It was a nice change of pace from the easy girls he normally hooked up with. Of course it helped that she was cute too, very cute. Cute enough that he thought it was strange that he'd never really noticed her around before. But then again, she was younger and in a House he very rarely associated himself with.
The wind shifted then, pulling him from his thoughts on the hufflepuff, and he pocketed his hands in the front of his jeans to keep them warm. Besides the wind, the weather wasn't too bad, luckily, but when he looked up at the gray sky he could see that it might rain. He hoped it wouldn't, not before he'd reached Hogsmeade and got inside somewhere warm at least. Digging his hands deeper into his pockets, he was just about to pick up his pace when someone popped up at his side, talking and bumping her shoulder against his arm. His pace slowed for a moment and he turned his head to look down at her. "Hey babe." he greeted, the corner of his mouth twitching up into the faintest of smirks at her joke. "You're funny." he replied, sarcastic, and then quirked a brow as her demeanor suddenly changed.
Ryker watched her from the corner of his eye curiously, what was with her? She hadn't acted like this in her letters. In their letters she had been snarky and sarcastic, not at all how he'd expected her to act. He'd expected her to act the way she was now, shy and awkward, not confident. But she hadn't and he'd been surprised by that, had liked it. So now that she'd come over all shy and embarrassed, like she couldn't believe she'd dared to speak to him that way, he felt a stab of disappointment.
Catching her wrist, he stopped their walk and moved to stand in front of her. "Hey," he nudged her head up with his hand so that she was looking him in the face. "Where's the girl who gave me shit in those letters?" he quirked a brow, "You don't need to be shy around me. I don't bite." he grinned then, a slow smile and lifted his hand to pluck a brown leaf from her hair. He didn't want her to be shy and nervous around him. He wanted her to be comfortable, open, because then he had a much greater chance at getting something out of this whole thing. Turning, he continued their walk, expecting the Hufflepuff to follow. "So what's your name?" because he still didn't know and he hadn't bothered to ask when they'd been writing to each other.

cordelia wrinkled her nose at ryker's sarcastic comments. even though they had been all snarky and rude in their notes cordelia wasn't used to it. mean people weren't really in hufflepuff so this was all really foreign to her. at least on paper she had time to think of her answer and make sure it was a good response. here she had no time, so instead she just sat there and was awkward as all hell. ryker definitely got the worst end of this deal. but then again what did he expect when he was hanging out with a shy fifth year? needless to say this little hufflepuff was far away from being comfortable. maybe it wasn't to late to leave.
then, ryker caught her off guard when he grabbed her hand. her first response was to pull away but his grip was just a little bit to strong. the whole touching thing was unexpected and cordelia didn't know what to deal with that. if anything it just made her want to pull away more and be even more shy than she just was. cora couldn't even look him in the eye even though he was lifting her chin. as soon as she made eye contact with him cory freaked out and looked away. instead of looking down at her feet (her most favorite view.) her eyes settled on the cigarette behind his ear. well that's interesting. she thought, before trying again pulling away from his touch again. "i-i don't know that." she said in a soft voice before finishing up with, "you look like the kind of person who bites."
finally he let go but instead of turning around and leaving the hufflepuff watched as ryker turned around and kept on walking. cordelia sped up her step trying to catch up with ryker, sneaking behind him again to pick the cigarette from behind his ear. with a few skips in her step, the young hufflepuff moved so she was in front of ryker. instead of grabbing his hands to stop him in his tracks coredlia turned around and continued to walk backwards, taking the cigarette and blacing it in between her lips. sure she never smoked before, but come on it was the seventies. she could at least try and lie for the sake of coolness. "do you always accessories with cigarettes? i think i missed this fashion statement." coredlia commented, trying her best to speak around the cigarette in her mouth. it was surprisingly harder than she thought it would be.
"aaaand. my name is cordelia." she finally answered. turning around so she tripped over her own feet. "i know, who in their right mind would name their daughter cordelia." she continued, her face twisting into an annoyed expression though it wasn't like ryker could see. "its like my parents just wanted me to have a bad start in life. so if you are thinking of any little snide remark you can forget it. i've already heard them all." she explained, looking over her shoulder to make sure ryker was still behind her. "you can call me what ever you want though. i don't really have a set nickname. cora, cory, delia, the list goes on.... what about you? do you just go by ry?"
